GENDER EQUALITY Explorer is a user-friendly web tool that allows you to create your own tables, maps and reports to illustrate, analyze and understand the status of women and girls in your community.

It was created by the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota’s Center on Women and Public Policy to expand the availability of data on women and girls and the capacity of individuals and organizations to use data to advance equality for women and girls across the country.

Engineered and powered by the award-winning Social Explorer, it disaggregates data by gender from the U.S. Census Bureau collected through the American Community Survey.

Recommendations for Combating Child Sexual Exploitation in Minnesota

This report, conducted for the Women's Foundation of Minnesota by five Masters of Public Policy students at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs, scans media presentation of sexually exploited girls in Minnesota; outlines current state policy; and funding streams available. It also reviews laws in other states and investigates a sample set of organizations providing services to girls who have been sexually exploited in Minnesota and across the country, identifying promising practices in this field. This report was presented on December 2011 by MPP Candidates: Julie Gardner, Erica Heikel, Kristen James, Michelle Karon, and Peter Strohmeier.

What Designing The New Girl Scouts Innovation Badges Taught Us About Raising Leaders

"As part of the organization's rebranding, the Girl Scouts has introduced an innovation component. In designing the program, Jump Associates developed some tips for training girls to become future leaders.

As the Girl Scouts approach their 100-year anniversary in March, they are introducing a whole new lineup of badges. Way back in 1913, the organization had badges like Flyer and Electrician to represent those trailblazing professions. Today, girls live in vastly different times and have wider opportunities in business leadership. With that in mind, Jump worked with the Girl Scouts to develop a badge program to expose girls to cutting-edge fields such as web design and social innovation.
