Parent Involvement Resource Sharing Network (PIRSN)
Parent Involvement Resource Sharing Network (PIRSN)
The Parent Involvement Resource Sharing Network (PIRSN) builds the capacity of its members (practitioners) by serving as a learning and resource-sharing network of parent involvement practitioners who meet in an effort to learn from each others’ practices & from research while exploring ways to intersect & connect around parent involvement as it relates to improving children’s educational outcomes.
PIRSN began in the spring of 2006 when several organizations gathered to coordinate a federal Parent Information Resource Center (PIRC) grant proposal. Though the grant was not successful, the organizations saw value in continuing to meet informally to share information. With funding from the McKnight Foundation, the University of Minnesota’s Children, Youth and Family Consortium (CYFC) has been gathering these organizations monthly since the fall of 2006.
