Project Description:
The Ramsey Tobacco Coalition began over 15 years ago and was established work on Tobacco Use Prevention throughout Ramsey County, Minnesota. Ramsey County has the capital of the state, St. Paul and is the most densely populated county in Minnesota.There are 23 active agencies in the coalition.The emphasis has been to include all schools and community organizations and entities which touch first the youth and adults of the county. This grassroots approach has been quite successful in reducing the rate of smoking of our diverse population.

This is a coalition which is unique in the state and most of the USA. It has influenced government policies regarding elimination of Secondhand Smoke in public places.It has also mentored youth and educated thousands regarding tobacco use . Ramsey Tobacco Coalitiion has used a grassroots approach to solving one of the largest health issues of our time.
