Community approaches to healthier eating
Obesity is a major and growing health issue that can lead to chronic health problems. Available, affordable, and accessible healthy food choices are essential to reversing this trend. Here are a few groups who are engaging their communities in making good nutrition a priority:
- Columbia Heights School Garden -- Kristen Stuenkel, Columbia Heights School District Childhood
- Obesity Prevention Initiative -- Pat Stieg, Dakota County Public Health
- Improving food security in four Saint Paul Neighborhoods -- Glen Hill, Minnesota Food Association and Valerie Geaither, Afro Eco.
Check under resources to see one-page descriptions of each of these programs, and join our discussion. Better still, join this gathering, add your resources, and start a discussion.
