Are You Inspired to Gather around a Community Problem?

Pioneers and civic leaders founded and built Minnesota on the premise of working as a community to solve problems. Are you ready to continue this tradition? By hosting an InCommons gathering, you can:

  • Find solutions from others on pressing issues
  • Share tools, knowledge, resources and examples
  • Share learnings on the InCommons site for fellow members to access
  • Engage and network with new individuals and organizations

InCommons gatherings can vary widely in form, size, scope, audience and space. Yet all will provide opportunities for people to engage a variety of stakeholders in uncommon conversations about community challenges. To get started, follow the “Form a Gathering” path to the right.

Read About Other Gatherings

"Our first in-person gathering, 'Community Approaches to Healthier Eating,' went extremely well and was well attended. We saw a lot of interaction and exchange of ideas between people who otherwise may not have connected. Sixty percent of our guests connected with someone they didn't know and shared similar issues that they could work on together. Making this initial connection was extremely important. The website allows for this conversation to be continued and expanded to all communities in Minnesota." - Nancy Hartzler, The Wilder Foundation

"There is nothing quiet as powerful as a group of people coming together to listen to one another and converse about problems surrounding their communities. InCommons provides a safe place for these conversations to come together. The University of Minnesota Connecting Community Leaders event brought graduates together to talk about pressing issues in there communities from water to economic development to suburban development. People focused on communication gathering practices to make effective connections and conversations. InCommons gatherings are not just conferences, they spark conversations that matter." - Jodi Sandfort, University of Minnesota
