Minnesota history teaches us that real solutions arise when individuals and communities unite to address needs, share insight and plan collectively.

What happened to that principle? Today, in many communities throughout the region, the connections that worked so well in the past are stressed and in some places even gone, and people are having problems solving problems. Many people often work alone, or work in such small numbers they can’t tackle a big job. Perhaps they work in one community not knowing that elsewhere in the state another group has already worked on a similar issue and figured out a solution.

InCommons seeks to revive the spirit that made communities strong in the past through online connectivity and community gatherings. We invite you to be a part of this emerging initiative that we believe will make communities strong for the future.

And, here, in our InCommons blog, we encourage you to visit frequently as we develop this program. We’ll share the latest news, site enhancements and updates on InCommons gatherings. Individuals and organizations throughout the state will share guest commentary on issues they seek to resolve. We’ll offer video and photos of community meetings, and relevant case studies of InCommons-fostered connections at work in towns throughout Minnesota.

We’ll also feature guest entries from and interviews with InCommons partners and courageous leaders statewide…perhaps even you.

Minnesota has many examples of individuals and organizations working together to solve problems. InCommons hopes to strengthen and build on these networks. We’re delighted to have your participation.
